Local Business Spotlight - Jeffrey's Natural Pet Foods

Jeffrey’s Natural Pet Foods

By Tim Marsolais

Would you like to see health improvements in your dog after just three days? Jeffrey’s Natural Pet Foods owner, Lynnet Spiegel, can show you the virtues of a raw pet food diet—and she is sure that after three days, your pet will live the benefits.

Lynnet Spiegel, owner of Jeffrey’s Natural Pet Foods.

Located on Powell Street between Joe DiMaggio Park and Washington Square, Jeffrey's Natural Pet Foods has been a staple of the North Beach neighborhood for more than 17 years. They host Puppy Classes, Yappy Hours, and annual holiday parties. Lynnet and her staff make an effort to know both you and your pet.

Lynnet began down the path to pet wellness when her puppy, Luna, had a bladder infection. The Veterinarian wanted to solve it with steroids, but before she agreed, she researched the alternatives and started making raw, natural food in her home. It solved Luna's bladder infection, and the health benefits for her dog were obvious--so, she continued the time-consuming process to make it for her growing pup.

After months of making her own food, Lynnet discovered a small business in the Castro neighborhood making and selling the same raw, fresh-meat pet food. The owner, Jeffrey, was surprised to find someone else making high-quality, natural food. When they realized their connection, Jeffrey invited Lynnet to become a business partner with him and expand to a second location (North Beach), and she agreed.

Today, Lynnet is a busy woman with another Jeffrey's location in the Castro and an 8000 sq. ft production facility in Hunter's Point. However, you will often find Lynnet at the North Beach store. Come in and visit, and bring your pet!

Regardless of when you visit, all of her associates are pet lovers, very knowledgeable, and can point you in the right direction with your questions about raw pet food.

In addition to the raw food, the Jeffrey's storefront is filled with natural treats, pet snacks (be sure to get one of the pet cupcakes), and other supplies. Lynnet ensures that everything in the store has been made safely, ethically, and is non-toxic.

Jeffrey’s also makes their own treats and chews, right here in San Francisco.

If you can't make it into the store, you can ask questions about raw food nutrition on the Jeffrey's website, where someone will answer them. You can also sign up for pet classes, and dental cleaning on the website.

Lynnet has been an active member of the North Beach Business Association for more than 10 years, and member of the Board for more than 3 years. As a third-generation North Beach native, giving back to the North Beach community that has been such a large part of her life is a clear priority. You will often find her at fund-raisers, events, and patronizing other local North Beach businesses.
